Performing
at Chicago Singer Spotlight on Wednesday, April 9 at FitzGerald's.
J. Kendall
This is the first time at Fitzgeralds for musician/singer/songwriter
J. Kendall. J. Kendall grew up in Chicago where he sang and played
bass guitar in his church choir. In college, he was exposed to other
musical styles including jazz and was the bass player in a band
with Becca as the lead singer(small world!). After working as a
computer programmer for a few years, J Kendall left the corporate
world to pursue a career in music. Since then, he has worked on
a number of projects including radio jingles and songs for the independent
films I Was Made To Love Her and Harlems Beauty . In 2001, he released
his debut album entitled Make Your Move , a collection of 13 original
tunes that he composed, produced and performed. In addition to performing
regularly at the Buzz Cafe, he is currently working on his second
album and a website JKENDALLMUSIC.com
Kim
Frost
After
studying opera at Indiana University and Jazz at Berklee College
of Music, Kim Frost moved to the Chicago area in 1988, and became
the featured vocalist for, not one, but TWO of the city's major
entertainment destinations. She began the inaugural season on the
Spirit of Chicago where she remained for the first three seasons
before being asked to help create the musical concepts and atmosphere
for Odyssey Cruises where she performed as the featured vocalist
from 1991 until 1999. Since then she has spent her time "freelancing,"
working with different bands and orchestras in and around the Chicagoland
area as well as contributing her vocal and harmonic abilities to
original studio projects and commercial spots. She is excited to
be closing the Cabaret Nights Series at Symphony Center with the
fabulous Bobbi Wilsyn in an evening of Johnny Mercer in May. During
the day, she is a popular private vocal instructor in Naperville
and has more recently begun to accept students in Oak Park where
she lives with her husband percussionist David Bernat. Kim would
like to thank Becca and Amy for this wonderful opportunity...and
her patience. She dedicates tonight's performance to Pops.

in Chicago. Temple is also a graduate of the prestigious Interlochen

Shannon
Wright
Dubbed
'Little Aretha' at age five, Shannon Wright has built on that early
promise. Her charismatic and emotional performances have charmed
all fortunate enough to hear - from intimate dinner theatre to stadiums.
A native of North Carolina, at 18, she moved to Atlanta and began
her professional singing career. Three years later, Shannon moved
to Chicago and made the city sit up and take notice by winning the
"Taste of Chicago" 15th Annual Chicago Talent Search! Shannon went
on to numerous accomplishments, including: being a favorite performer
for WGCI (Chicago's #1 urban radio station and event sponsor), performing
with Brian McKnight and Stephanie Mills; opening for Tanya Blount
and Jamie Fox; performing for the Reverend Jesse Jackson; working
with Ramsey Lewis; singing lead for the Ralph Wilder Orchestra;
studying under Velia Botti at The Fine Arts School of Chicago (adding
to her repertoire classical arias and songs in Italian, French,
and Spanish), and studying Music Theory and Piano at The People's
Music School of Chicago (to develop better composing skills). "I
have fallen in love with the process of writing songs - getting
the initial idea in my heart, developing my basic melody, and finally,
writing the lyrics." She's been working to complete her debut CD,
due in May 2004, entitled "Home To Be With You". Currently registered
with Linda Jack Talent, Shannon is striving to showcase her soulful,
sultry vocal style locally and throughout the United States (hopefully
with a recording contract). "It is such an exhilarating feeling
to share one's heart in song - but if I never get to sing another
note, I have been blessed to have had some magnificent experiences
in my life."
