Performing
at Chicago Singer Spotlight on Wednesday, August 11 at FitzGerald's.
Sean
Archer
Sean
Archer is an award-winning jazz vocalist and songwriter/arranger
that has been a fixture of the Chicago scene for quite a while.
He recently won 'Best Original Song' at the 2004 Harmony Sweepstakes
Competition, and his vocal group, Stripped, took third place overall
in that competition. He has sung with Bobby McFerrin, John Clayton,
Maynard Ferguson, Nicholas Payton, John McLean, and the late Frank
Mantooth. His jazz vocalese is reminiscent of John Hendricks, and
his pop sound has a mix of Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder, and Ray Charles.
His songwriting style is eclectic and varies from They Might Be
Giants-esque to straight ahead down and dirty blues. He has no children(that
he knows of) and is survived only by a cat and a ton of family and
friends to whom he is eternally grateful. Wait, this is a bio, not
a die-o, sorry. He likes cookies and will sell any arrangement for
a goodly number of the soft, gooey, chocolate-chippy kind.
Aly
Cornett
Aly
Cornett is currently a senior Computer Graphic Arts major at Taylor
University but has always been an aspiring singer and is recently
also an aspiring song writer. She has sung numerous times at her
church and schools, as well as with her father in Nashville. She
has also competed and advanced to the final round of the C.A.T.S
2002 talent search with her best friend, Sher, which was filmed
for the Inspiration Network on cable. This is not her first time
singing in front of a public audience, but it is her first time
performing her original songs and hearing them played with a live
band. Suffice it to say, she's ecstatic.
Anne DeLangis
Anne
deLangis is thrilled to be part of Chicago Singer Spotlight. She
has sung at some of the most prestigious events and in some of the
most exciting venues the city has to offer, including Navy Pier,
Taste of Chicago, The Chicago Theatre and Symphony Hall. She has
appeared on television and radio programs to promote her CD of original
material entitled "Take on the Rain", which has received excellent
reviews throughout the country. Performing Songwriter Magazine's
review said, "…Her powerful set of pipes…lift every song effortlessly.
She's obviously a pro when it comes to delivering a vocal. Fortunately,
she has the writing chops to match." Anne spends a great deal of
time in the recording studio, lending her voice to national television
and radio spots such a Hallmark, McDonald's, and Pepsi to name but
a few. She also contributes vocals on various artists' album projects
as well as being a popular choice among songwriters who enlist Anne
to sing on their song demos. She also teaches voice and is a song
coach; helping singers develop the style and delivery of their repertoires.
She is the very proud Mother of two incredible children, Cole and
Ruby, who keep her joyfully busy and constantly inspired.
Jen
Chada
Jennifer
Chada is no stranger to the stage, Chicago audiences and critics
alike have raved over her performances in favorite roles including
Eva Peron in "Evita", Guenevere in "Camelot", and Audrey in "Little
Shop of Horrors". In addition to her day job as #1 Mom (of 5 yr.
old Megan), and a successful career in the on-camera/voiceover business,
she took the cabaret scene by storm last year with her critically
acclaimed one-woman show entitled, "I Want More - Songs of ‘Real
Women’ Doin’ Their Dreams, Deeds and Desires", which played to full
houses at Davenport’s in Chicago. The show prompted After Dark critic
Jeff Rossen to say, "Chada burst forth as a major new talent." That
led to performances at the Chicago Humanities Festival and recently
the First Ever Chicago Cabaret Convention held at Park West. For
