Performing
at Chicago Singer Spotlight on Wednesday, December 11 at FitzGerald's.
Beth
Higgins
Becca
Kaufman was thinking, " A Star is Born" as she entered the room.
Beth Higgins had the crowd eating out of her hands; some cried,
some stomped their feet. She was in the midst of a tantalizing and
provocative rendition of "Wheels on the Bus" at the Community Center
Jubilee music class, where they both brought their children. Since
that gig, Beth has performed in the shower, at the Cubby Bear, in
her backyard while gardening, at a few weddings, not yet with Natalie
Merchant or Jewel, though has made a couple of brave stage apperarances
to well-liquored and receptive pub crawl crowds. Beth has an MA
in teaching with a concentration in dance, a great husband, two
beautiful daughters and simply loves to sing. She dedicates this
performance to her first born, Abigail, who knows these songs by
heart and requests them on every car ride.
Sabina
L. Lilly
Sabina
L. Lilly has been writing songs for about ten years. Tonight she
is thrilled to (finally) be performing her work with a live band
in front of a real audience! A true Gemini, Sabina has been involved
in an array of musical endeavors. From her jazz singing days in
Boston to her piano- and organ-playing days in Michigan churches,
she's dabbled in a bit of everything. Since moving to Chicago five
years ago Sabina has been singing jazz and classical music professionally,
and she enjoys freelancing at several area churches. Sabina loves
to teach and currently maintains studios in Riverside and Chicago.
In April of next year she will eagerly begin to work on her long-time
dream: a CD of original music!
Chester
Gregory
Previously
known for his Jeff award winning performance as Jackie Wilson, Chester
Gregory is now making a dynamic debut as solo artist. From Hollywood
(American Dreams) to New York (B.B. King's on 42nd) this performer
has been taking audiences by storm. With a five octave voice range
and a unique dance style, he has been compared to Usher, Bilal and
Prince. His style of music has been described as ''A step beyond
neo-soul.'' This new underground soul artist has intelligent lyrics,
strong melodies and songs from the heart that speak to the soul.

Anna McClafferty
Anna McClafferty is
originally from London, England and now resides in Lemont. Since
an early age, Anna always had a passion for singing. She studied
at the famous Italia Conti Stage School of Performing Arts in North
London. She played many diverse roles in regional and community
theatres in England and Chicago including Mary in Jesus Christ Superstar,
Sandy in Grease and the Narrator in Joseph. For the last eight years,
Anna has been the lead vocalist in several premiere dance wedding
bands. Anna thanks her family and friends for understanding her
love of music, Becca and Amy for the continuous support (and not
letting her back out) and the band for their magnificent talents.
To her five year old son Michael, "You are my sunshine; you take
my breath away. My sweet darling you are everything good. I love
you." And to her husband Manus, "You have my respect, my gratitude,
my friendship forever. Thanks for being in my corner and being the
one I can count on. I love you."
