Performing
at Chicago Singer Spotlight on Wednesday, December 10 at FitzGerald's.
Beth
Higgins
Beth
returns to the Singer Spotlight stage, where she made her debut
last December. That appearance lead to a whirlwind tour of Luxembourg,
Scandinavia and the Slavic states. No, it actually led to a distinctly
different stage. Beth is now a senior member of the One World Dance
Theatre, based in Oak Park. The troupe gave their inaugural performance
to a packed house in June here at Fitzgerald's. They then danced
at Viva Chicago in August and were invited to perform at the prestigious
Dance Chicago festival in November. Dance Chicago has become the
most diverse and comprehensive exposition of dance in the history
of Chicago and is the only festival of its kind in the Nation. So
kudos to Becca for her encouragement way back when. Now Beth's current
singing tour is in the car from pre-school to rhythm dance class
with daughters Abbey and Riley. We'll be looking for a family performance
from the Higgins Trio as soon as the young ones can memorize some
lyrics.
Kym
Franklin
In
a world define by possessions and greed there is great need for
us to be reminded of what makes life sweet and full. Enter Kym Franklin.
Kym is a singer, performer and songwriter who delivers that reminder
with her music. She has mastered her own style of singing - eclectic
soul. Kym has performed throughout Europe, Jamaica and the U.S.
sharing the stage with the O'Jays, Chuck Berry, Jesse Dixon, Al
Green, Taylor Dayne and Bill Cosby. Most recently, Kym has provided
background vocals for R. Kelly! She has had extensive vocal training
and holds a B.A. and a M.M. in music/performance. Kym stays busy
on stage, in the studio, vocal coaching and on regular European
tours. She is pursuing opportunities that will allow her to uplift
and inspire, to remind us of our purpose and ultimately reassure
us that we are loved.
Francine Chica
I am Francine Chica. I love singing and writing lyrics more than
anything in the world. Music has been my passion my whole life.
I have been singing in choirs since I was a child, and now I want
to be a lead singer/lyricist in a band. I have worked and am working
with diverse musicians in the Southwest suburbs, and recently began
spending time recording. The fulfillment that music enhances to
my life is indescribable. I want to thank everyone for coming and
sharing this moment with me.
Jon
Michaels
Having
toured with the New Christie Minstrels (who spawned such musicians
as John Denver, Kim Carnes and Kenny Rogers), Jon writes songs and
music that "Chicken Soup for the Soul" co-author Jack Canfield proclaims
as "chicken soup for my soul...that spreads light, joy, and fun."
Nationally renowned musician Andrew Gold describes Jon Michaels
as "one of the great singer-songwriters in recent memory." Jon's
debut album entitled "Stones" which has elicited critical acclaim
is described as "one of the most poignant and beautiful CDs heard
in a long time". Those enraptured by Jackson Browne, James Taylor,
Jim Croce and the like will surely eat this up." Jon's music "rejuvenates
people's emotions in a very deep, sensitive, enlightening humorous
way through songs, music and stories." For more information, check
