Performing
at Chicago Singer Spotlight on Wednesday February 12 at FitzGerald's.
Karen
Multer
Karen
has enjoyed a successful career in musical theatre, performing in
several Chicago area and regional venues, earning two Jeff nominations
for Best Actress along the way. She is also a professional spokesperson
for various companies- she can tell you about shower heads or embedded
computer systems with equal aplomb! With her husband Steve, they
have formed Chicago's newest vintage vocal jazz quartet "TONIC",
specializing in smooth harmonies of the swing era. These days Karen
spends her time writing and arranging original tunes for the group,
always keeping an eye and ear open for that distinctive classic
sound.
Tara
Eby
Tara Eby began singing in front of large audiences
at ten years old. During high school, she sang in a vocal trio,
her school's choir, and she led worship for a congregation of 400
at Community Gospel Church in Bremen, Indiana. From 1999-2001, Tara
was the lead vocalist for her dad's coffeehouse band, "Remnant."
This was a wonderful opportunity to perform almost weekly and to
participate in four recording projects. Tara came from a diverse
musical background, but three years ago she became serious about
singing jazz. Since then, she has moved to the Chicago area to study
music and art at Elmhurst College. At Elmhurst, she studies with
Jackie Allen, performs with the vocal jazz group "Late Night Blues,"
and sings for Ken Haebich's jazz combo. Tara also gigs occasionally
with her husband, Thomas, who plays jazz trumpet and piano. Tara
would like to thank Becca and Amy for the opportunity to feature
her talents tonight. She would also like to thank all of her friends
who came out to support her!
Carole Baskin
CAROLE

has been her 1st love for years and the combination of music has
filled her with much contentment and fulfillment. She is very active
with the ministry at her church and uses her talent to encourage
them all. God has blessed her musical talents in various ways. She
has had the privilege and honor to sing with many talented artists
around the Chicago land area such as Shawn Christopher, Tina J.

have recently finished their 1st CD. She has a diversified style
that allows her to sing just about anything. Her number one goal

Kathie
Mills
Kathie
Mills began her musical love affair at age six with a toy organ,
go-go boots (her Mom's), Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For
Walkin" and Aretha Franklin's classics like "Think" and "Respect".
Frequently she was found strutting around her parent's living room
performing for anyone willing to watch and later went on to lip-sync
(known then as pantomime..) entire "Liza Minelli Live" albums! Inevitably,
the passion for singing took hold with influences from Carly Simon,
Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Barbara Streisand, Linda Ronstadt and
Heart. At 14 she joined her first rock band. At 18 she was lead
vocalist for the band Duce, managed by former American Breed drummer
Leo Graziano, opening for local/National Acts such as Ruby Star,
Rare Earth, Black Oak Arkansas, Europe, Bitch and the Boyzz From
Illinois. The past 13 years, Kathie has been working for some of
Chicago's best event orchestras and bands. As a singer/songwriter,
last year, she wrote the theme song for and co-produced Music For
The Heart, a collection of children's music, written and performed
by Chicago talent, which made it all the way to the semi-final nomination
process for the Grammys! Kathie has recently taken a step back from
her musical world to focus on her family but has her eyes on a return
to writing, producing and performing in 2004. Big Love tonight to
Becca, Kate and Tina for their wonderful background vocals, which
make it SO MUCH FUN!!! You girls are the BOMB!
