Performing
at Chicago Singer Spotlight on Wednesday, May 14 at FitzGerald's.
Kim
Frost
After
studying opera at Indiana University and Jazz at Berklee College
of Music, Kim Frost moved to the Chicago area in 1988, and became
the featured vocalist for, not one, but TWO of the city's major
entertainment destinations. She began the inaugural season on the
Spirit of Chicago where she remained for the first three seasons
before being asked to help create the musical concepts and atmosphere
for Odyssey Cruises where she performed as the featured vocalist
from 1991 until 1999. Since then she has spent her time free-lancing,
working with different bands and orchestras in and around the Chicagoland
area (big shout-out to Park Avenue!) as well as contributing her
vocal and harmonic abilities to original studio projects and commercial
spots. In 2003, she was priviledged to be the closing performance
for the Cabaret Nights Series at Symphony Center along with the
fabulous Bobbi Wilsyn in An Evening of Johnny Mercer. During the
day, she is a popular private vocal instructor in Naperville and
Oak Park where she lives with her husband percussionist David Bernat.
Kim would like to thank Becca and Amy for providing this truly amazing
forum for Chicago vocalists...we are eternally greatful to you two.
She would also like to thank her family and friends for coming out
tonight and a special thanks to the phenominal vocalists who have
her back, Lara, Carol and LaShaun.
Eric
Whitman
Eric
is very happy to be performing again tonight for Singer Spotlight,
this time at Fitzgerald's. He perfomed laast year at the Singer
Spotlight show at Pops Highwood in Highwood. Recently, Eric appeared
in "True West" at the Borealis Theatre in Aurora, and at Davenport's
in "Standard Living", an evening of standards, produced by Chicago
Cabaret Professionals. He can also be seen this year as one of the
DJ/Entertainers on the Mystic Blue cruiseship based at Navy Pier.

Sharon Dusek
Sharon Daw Dusek is just thrilled to make
it to the Chicago Singer Spotlight stage! She began singing at a
very young age,...but mostly behind closed doors so no one could
hear her. Aside from a semester or two of training in college, she
didn't really start singing 'til she moved to Chicago in 1989 to
pursue her acting career and discovered a whole new world in Musical
Theatre! Her career has taken her from Shakespeare to Musical Theatre
to Choreographer and back again. Taking the last 3 1/2 years off
to be Mommy to her beautiful daughter, Hannah (her biggest role
to date) she's coming out of retirement with a bang. She's recently
joined up with an awesome band named "Spakl" and just played a benefit
at House of Blues last month. Special thanks to Becca & Amy for
this amazing opportunity! Huge thank you to her family and friends
for all their love and support and to Russ for his love and patience.
She dedicates her performance to the memory of her father.
Dawn
McGovern
Dawn
McGovern began singing with her Church Choir and publicly debuted
her singing talent at the age of 7, during a cable broadcast of
a service. She has always possessed a love for music and has continued
to perfect her range, studying with a personal coach at The Fine
Arts Building in Chicago. While living in Florida, Dawn joined many
bands, on stage, to perform crowd-pleasing R&B hits. She also performed
in talent contests and at wedding receptions. After moving back
to Chicago, she began studying under a professional coach and working
with a local band. Participating in Talent Showcases and being involved
with the arrangement of original music, has added depth and breadth
to her repertoire. Recently, she has begun working in the studio
to record several original tracks. A devoted mother of Colin and
Taylor, Dawn has managed to keep her dream alive while continuing
to support her family's needs.
