Performing
at Chicago Singer Spotlight on Wednesday, November 13 at FitzGerald's.
Gayle
Bisesi
Gayle
Bisesi is originally from Decatur, IL. By day, she is a preschool
teacher and a nanny placement counselor. By night, you will find
her singing jazz at various establishments in Chicago and the suburbs
(Cucina Roma, The Boiler Room, Andyıs). At the age of nine, Gayle
began touring as a singer and pursuing vocal training. ³My biggest
musical idol is the late Ella Fitzgerald. Ella lived the music.
She is life in full expression,² says Gayle. ³I enjoy connecting
with the audience and my own spirituality through music.² Gayleıs
musical repertoire includes jazz, pop, gospel, blues, classical
and musical theater selections. In 1996, she graduated from Elmhurst
College with a degree in Music Education and Vocal Performance.
Through the years, her singing has taken her to such places as Spain,
Portugal, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, France, Montreaux Jazz Festival
in Switzerland and the North Sea Jazz Festival in The Netherlands.
In addition, Gayle was named Outstanding Jazz Soloist by both Downbeat
Magazine and the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival, as well as being
recognized by MENC as an Outstanding Classical Vocalist in the collegiate
chapter. Performing is what she loves to do!
Betsy
Katz
Betsy
Katz started singing at the age of 4 ("How Much Is That Doggie In
the Window" was the crowd pleaser at the time) and hasn't stopped
since. Top honors at state vocal competitions, musical roles in
high school and college, and several years touring with an A Cappella
choir sequed to professional cabaret club singing jobs in Europe
by the time she was 21. Turning her sights to professional theatre,
she became a member of Actors' Equity and shared in a Joseph Jefferson
Award for her performance in the long-running hit play LUNCHING,
directed by Mike Nussbaum. A few years ago, she teamed up with the
very talented Bradley Williams to produce her soon-to-be-released
first CD, which includes a song that she co-wrote called "Time to
Be Alone". On the journey to this evening's performance, she has
taught and tutored middle and upper school English and French, taught
theatre classes, directed plays and privately coached young adults.
But her longest running, happiest and most successful gigs have
been those of wife and mother. Thank you to Paul, Amy and David,
her best fans and cheerleaders! Special appreciation goes to Bobby
Schiff for his friendship and talent. Lastly, Betsy sends huge thanks
to Becca and Amy for their encouragement and for giving her this
wonderful opportunity to get back to her roots.
Jackie Broderick
Since
the first time Jackie Broderick saw The Beatles in concert at Comisky
Park, she has been hooked on live music, as well as The Beatles.
It has been a "Hard Days Night" for Jackie and it is time for her
to have some fun. As an early childhood teacher, music and singing
works wonders with children, so why not grown-ups? Welcome to Miss
Jackie's grown-up "Circle Time." Remember, "All You Need is Love."
Paula
Ramsey
Paula's
singing career has taken her across the United States, Canada and
South America. She has performed along side Sammy Davis Jr., Joan
Rivers, Joe Williams, Chaka Kahn, Henny Youngman and Billy Ocean
to name a few. Paula was a regular in the Chicago nightclub scene
at the Pinnacle Restaurant on Lake Shore Drive and Milt Trenier's
Jazz Club for many years. Her most memorable performances though,
were for Hugh Hefner's Playboy Clubs that booked her across the
country. Although she loves performing 'live', she's quite busy
and happy in the recording studio. You can hear this much in demand
voice-over and singing talent on commercials for Sear's Homelife
Furniture, United Airlines, V-Tech Toys, Proscout and Oakbrook Center.
Other clients include Abbott Labs, True Value and various inter-company
educational tools.
