Performing
at Chicago Singer Spotlight on Wednesday, November 12 at FitzGerald's.
Kristi
Alsip
Kristi Alsip loves Fitzgerald's and would like to
thank Becca and Amy for inviting her back. Kristi does the acting
and voice-over thing as well as gives tours at the Museum of Science
& Industry. Her blues/rock band Crawford's Daughter plays out in
the Chicagoland area (and is available for your musical entertainment
needs.... check out their card!) Kristi cannot thank her family
and friends enough for their support. And anything with antlers
makes her laugh.
UNITY
UNITY was formed in 1996 for the purpose of ministering
to people and glorifying God through song at the Chicago Church
of Christ worship services. It was primarily formed by Lara Jenkins
with the help and input of several others and has evolved in its
members and repertoire over the years. The group consists of Carole
Baskin, Tammy Boyd, Latonya McGill, La'Shaun McNicholas, Cynthia
Neal, Lisa Pearson and Kimberly Washington. They started by singing
an assortment of contemporary Christian and gospel cover tunes and
rearranged them to have a more unique sound. Toward the end of 1999,
God put it on their hearts to record their first CD to further their
evangelistic goals. Soon, UNITY learned that the diverse racial
makeup and influences in the group were helping to create a distinctive
sound. Intense songwriting and recording sessions commenced in early
2002. These sessions culminated in the release of Unity's debut
CD in December 2002. The result is a decidedly tasty mix of urban,
rock and a cappella tunes that showcase the group's vocal talents
and their creative writing abilities. The group has sung for multiple
engagements such as weddings, concerts and church services including
the UIC Pavilion, The Odeum and The Chicago Theatre. They were most
recently featured in their own concert in July. While respecting
each other's uniqueness yet forging a spirit of oneness, together
their goal is to glorify God in everything they do.
Dawn
McGovern
McGovern began singing with her Church Choir and
publicly debuted her singing talent at the age of 7, during a cable
broadcast of a service. She has always possessed a love for music
and has continued to perfect her range, studying with a personal
coach at The Fine Arts Building in Chicago. While living in Florida,
Dawn joined many bands, on stage, to perform crowd-pleasing R&B
hits. She also performed in talent contests and at wedding receptions.
After moving back to Chicago, she began studying under a professional
coach and working with a local band. Participating in Talent Showcases
and being involved with the arrangement of original music, has added
depth and breadth to her repertoire. Recently, she has begun working
in the studio to record several original tracks.
Beth Swaggerty
Beth refused to provide her artist bio, fearing that it might be
used later to incriminate her in a court of law. What we have discovered
is that she surfaced in Chicago in 1990 as 1/2 of the imfamous "Angst
Sisters", leaving a trail of comedic and musical mayhem across our
fine city. A.K.A. Madame Eunice, Post Menapausal Psychic and Mary
Kay Distributor - "I can tell you about your future and your foundation!"
- Beth is considered unarmed but still dangerous. This evening she's
leaving her life of comedic crime to indulge in her love of singing.
She's honored to be among tonight's performers and hopes you have
a great time.
