Performing
at Chicago Singer Spotlight at FitzGerald's on Wednesday, September
12
Kelley
Clute
In 1967, no one knew what would blanket the music scene
twenty years later, except for the resonating strings on the acoustic
guitar he plays today. The message of Kelley Clute's music is real,
tangible and atmospheric. A sound only one man's heart can tell.
In 1987, Clute began his migration in Detroit with a five piece
ensemble by the name of Davenport Blue. Later he joined a trio called
the Pleasure Heads. After feeling that his progression as a musician
had somehow halted, Clute took off for an island off the coast of
Maine where he realized that the only footsteps he needed to follow
were his own. Kelley Clute, a one-man band, has mastered the sound
of the human race.
Eugenia Elliott
Eugenia has been singing in Chicago for about 8 years
now and is very pleased to be singing at Singer Spotlight. Since
the release of her cd called "Where or When" on Southport Records,
Eugenia has performed at the Women of Southport Jazz Festival and
has been heard at Pops for Champagne, Catch 35 and the Cultural
Center in Chicago. She has been happily exploring the world of bluegrass
harmonies and was recently heard with the band Charming Axe at the
Old Town School Folk and Roots Festival. Eugenia would like to thank
her family and friends for their continued support, love and semi-regular
butt-kicking, reminding her to get out there and sing!
Tita Farrar
Tita
Farrar is an international vocalist who has been singing professionally
in Australia for the last 10 years. Tita was born in LA and is of
Spanish/European American decent and was raised for a large portion
of her life by a Jamaican nanny in Florida when Tita's mother was
a nightclub singer and father was traveling the globe as an international
cruise singer. The vast musical spectrum within her musical experience
can be heard in her vocal dexterity and original sound, a fusion
of jazz, soul, to R&B/dance. Tita has a dance single out in Australia
and just moved to Chicago where has started her own vocal studio
and music business called Mouth Music, while continuing to pursue
her recording career. In her "Holistic approach," singers and newcomers
will experience unpredictable results or miracles in the realms
of creativity and self expression, with clarity around ones fears
that suppress ones natural ability to go beyond their vocal/creative
limits. She calls this "Transformational Singing." In her performance
with Chicago Singer Spotlight, Tita will share her intimate passion
for jazz with a twist of Latin and dance. Her soulful style and
unique approach to some familiar favorites will be a delightful
treat to your ears. This occasion marks Tita's final performance
in Chicago before she moves to California!
Gretch Hill
Gretch Hill has been performing in the Chicago-land area for more
than fifteen years, in venues spanning the dial: country-rock, acoustic-rock,
Contemporary Christian, folk, and acapella. Her most recent collaboration
placed nationally in the pop venue with Ed McMahon's internet "star-search."
Her current CD, "Runaway" is available at Best Buy, and the track,
"Giddy Up" has received airplay on US-99. Mommy to 15 month old
twin boys is her most significant accomplishment yet; splitting
her time between diaper changes and running her own internet company.
Gretch's current project is an all original CD, targeted for year-end.
"My goal is to write and sing music that can inspire people towards
change. I believe music is a powerful vehicle - it can reach where
the spoken word cannot, bringing inspiration and conviction in many
forms. Whether we dance, sing, laugh or cry - when we share together
in a moment - we live more fully." Gretch's original track, "Hold
On" is featured on a compilation CD of Chicago area female artists,
Viva la Diva, currently available at Tower Records. All proceeds
benefit the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Foundation.
