Performing
at Chicago Singer Spotlight on Wednesday, September 10.
Barbara
Lauderdale
Barbara
Lauderdale was born in Chicago, Illinois where she still resides.
She began singing when she was eight years old. As she grew older,
so did her love of music and her desire to perform. Shortly after
graduating from high school, Barbara began singing with a popular
local R&B band, performing at various Chicago area clubs. She also
performed at weddings, parties and other social occasions. Later,
her career as an advertising copywriter afforded her the opportunity
to perform many of her own creations - doing voice overs and singing
jingles for clients such as Coca-Cola and McDonald's. Most recently,
Barbara has performed at various clubs in Chicago including Andy's
Jazz Club, the Green Dolphin Street, Gentry's and the Cotton Club.
She has also begun to make the Singers' Showcase Circuit with her
first performance at the Lyon's Den. Barbara was also the featured
solo performer for several charity benefit functions in 2002. Barbara
is currently the featured singer with a jazz band at the Ramada
Inn/Hyde Park on Friday night. Standards and jazz are her music
of choice but she can also handle R&B and Pop...She is looking to
work with other jobbing bands or to team up with a keyboardist for
work. Barbara has an available demo and can be reached at 773-224-5002.
Her cell number is 312-343-7613.
Julie Aymes
Julie
Aymes is one of Chicago's most versatile vocalists. Over the many
years of her career she has performed pop, swing, jazz, country,
R&B, rock, etc. Julie has opened for several national acts such
as Molly Hatchet, Greg Allman, and Mickey Gilley to name a few.
Her recording career started several years ago when she recorded
a couple of tunes for a local songwriter, which progressed into
recording for other local writers which you will find on her CD
recorded in Nashville, TN. To put it mildly, this girl has a lot
of demos. Julie presently works with the Al Sofia Orchestra here
in town.
Therese Hegler
I moved here one year ago from Minneapolis and feel
so lucky to have come across opportunities like Singer Spotlight.
My home has always been in Minnesota but I did spend some time in
lovely Los Angeles, singing in places like The Dresden and The Phoenix
Lounge at the Argyle Hotel with Jeff Goldblum & The Mildred Snitzer
Orchestra. It seemed like things were looking up for me but I guess
the smog was too much. Besides, I was too old to compete on American
Idol, anyway. I moved back to Minnesota and worked for a music house
where I was introduced to the idea that one could make a decent
living singing for Coors Light and Oil of Olay…which I did. I was
also singing for The Senders, a 1940's - 50's Blues and R&B band.
It was hard to leave but I knew there was more opportunity in this
fabulous city and the smog wasn't getting any better in L.A. It
was a great move. In the past year, I have been regularly featured
at Green Dolphin Street, Green Mill and Crush. I have an amazing
group of friends. And I still really enjoy the occasional "jingle"
call (JCPenny, McDonalds, Disney) - I am working hard at omitting
the "occasional" part! I am looking forward to another year and
am thankful for the opportunity to be here this evening.
Stacey
Coleman
Stacey Coleman got her musical training in the church
singing gospel music. During her teen and college years, she sang
in many different talent contest and church events around her native
Kentucky. For 4 years, she added her gospel voice to a four girl
group called "SOS". There she honed her performance skills by singing
for crowds of 10,000 or more. These last ten years have been very
busy. Stacey is the very happy mother of two beautiful children
Ronald, 8 years and Rachel, 15 months. Due to her husband Saul's
support, she has been able to sing backup for Shawn Christopher
for the last 3 years. Tonight is a very special night. Her parents
are here from Kentucky to support her along with many other friends.
