Performing
at Singer Spotlight North Shore on Thursday, January 31 at Pops
Highwood
Jen
Porter
There's
no doubt about it, Jen has been playing music all of her life. With
straightforward lyrics that relate universally and music that flows
from one song to the next, despite several different styles exhibited,
Jen has the ability to captivate any audience. Jen was born and
raised in Chicago. After leaving for Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1993
to obtain a BA, Jen soon realized that she wanted more than an education:
She wanted to perform. She fronted several bands, singing lead and
harmonies, playing piano and guitar in several different venues
around southeastern Michigan for close to five years. She also enjoyed
a successful solo residency for more than a year. Now, her quest
to share her music has brought her home, to Chicago. She currently
plays twice a week at piano bars in the city while continually booking
additional solo performances. Jen has performed for huge crowds
singing the National Anthem at Soldier Field and bringing the house
down at Hard Rock Café. Her style is expansive and universal. You
can't help but love her powerhouse voice and smooth piano. Jen plays
everything from Stevie Nicks and Aretha Franklin to Alanis Morrisette
and Fiona Apple, as well as her own original creations. With a voice
that reaches out and grabs you and a piano style that's simple and
melodic, you won't soon forget this performer.
Sally Schleker
This
marks Sally's second appearance with Singer Spotlight North Shore.
She's no newcomer to stage, though. Over the last three years Sally
has had 6 successful solo shows at Davenport's Piano Bar and Cabaret
in Chicago. She'll be back at Davenport's, reprising her show "Pieces
of Dreams" , May 15-19 with Richard Schwegel behind the piano. Prior
to cabaret appearances she has been seen in many theatres along
the north shore. Some of her favorite roles include : Sister Mary
Amnesia and Mother Superior in "Nunsense" (separate productions,
of course), Matron "Mama" Morton in "Chicago" and the Narrator in
"Joseph........". Sally teaches in Evanston, where she also resides.
Her current class of 1st graders believe she is the best singer
ever. They also believe that she could become a millionaire rock
star. She, on the other hand, thinks she should keep her day job.
Thadd
Krueger
Thadd
Krueger has been singing ever since he was a jolly six year old,
his mother handed him a toy microphone and the lyrics to YOU LIGHT
UP MY LIFE. Now, as a big kid, he is grateful to have been working
as a performer for the last eight years. He most recently appeared
in THE WIZARD OF OZ at the New American Theatre in Rockford, HERE'S
LOVE at Theatre at the Center in Indiana, and THE BALLAD OF LITTLE
JO at Chicago's nationally acclaimed Steppenwolf Theatre. Other
regional and Midwest credits include: Wagon Wheel Theatre (IN),
Porch light Theatre, Bailiwick Repertory, Cornwell's Dinner Theatre
(MI), Stage Right Dinner Theatre, Rocky Mountain Repertory (CO),
and Center light Theatre for the Deaf to name a few. Thadd has also
worked in commercials, industrials, voiceovers, the original CD
cast recording of MADAME X, and extra work for the feature films
RETURN TO ME and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. The cellar singing gigs he's
"paid his dues" for are too many to mention! This spring he's headed
for New York for audition season. Thadd has a BA in Dramatic Arts
and can be visited on the web at www.sighfoo.com/thadd/.
A BIG thanks to his family and Singer Spotlight North Shore for
this wonderful opportunity.
