performed with her father who was visiting from South America. She
was the 1st Prize winner of the most recent Singer Spotlight contest
and has used those 4 hours of free studio time, plus many more hours
to record her own songs about pregnant women, children, lullabies
and the power that is deep within us all. Tonite she will be performing
two of her own songs as well as two tunes that she sang with her
father's band in Montevideo, Uruguay in January 2004.

Hechtman on original material. Rivka has peformed all over Chicago,

Doug
James
Doug
James has built a successful professional career on a wide range
of performing talents, from radio Dee Jay to on camera commercials,
voice-overs and on stage performance, to corporate and conventional
film acting. It's likely that you've heard and/or seen him over
the years on National as well as local radio and TV commercials.
Doug's range of vocal styles displays his versatility and love for
the spoken word. His singing is soulful, and started when he was
only four years old. His mother played piano in a swing orchestra
so his early influences were with the Big Bands of the 40's. An
older sister soon got him interested in listening to the radio for
the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis. He started piano
at five and picked up the trumpet at 10. Van Morrison, John Hiatt,
Otis Redding and Tower of Power songs are among his favorites and
as he likes to say in his radio programming vernacular "are still
in high rotation on my mp3 player". Doug's current on air presence
includes the signature voice for Oldies 104.3 in Chicago, and the
weekly radio drama 'The Twilight Zone', heard on WGN. Doug's last
'On Air' gig was as the morning drive DJ here in Chicago at the
former 'Jammin' Oldies' station, 103.5 'The Beat'. He can be seen
performing around the Chicago area with two retro bands, 'Lovehouse'
and The Llama's.
Angel
Spicca
This is Angel's first time singing at Singers
Spotlight and she is very excited to be a part of it, especially
since this is one of her first performances back in Chicago. Angel
recently got back from spending a year in Italy where she finished
her music business degree. Just before that, she graduated from
Millikin University in Decatur, IL with a commercial music degree
where she focused on studio performance and engineering. Outside
of her rigorous class and rehearsal schedule, she was the featured
vocalist for several groups in central Illinois, including the Springfield
Broadway Big Band, the Tom Becker trio, the Blue Bus-consisting
of all Millikin music facility, as well as headlining the Springfield
Jazz Fest with the Terry Brennan Quartet. Before her time at Millikin,
Angel grew up in a household filled with music thanks to her Dad,
Maurice Spiccia. Maurice is a professional musician, pianist and
founder of Musicworks LTD. Angel had the great fortune of working
with her dad and his bands (where she even sang at, Singer Spotlight's
very own, Becca Kaufman's wedding when she was 13 yrs old), as well
as having been exposed to the studio scene from a very early age.
Angel credits her dad for all the successes she has had and states
that her entire family has always been and continues to be her strongest
base of support and encouragement. Thanks guys! Angel looks forward
to a great night with Singer Spotlight and starting her music career
right back here at home in Chicago.
