Performing
at Singer Spotlight North Shore on Thursday, May 31 at Pop's Highwood
Tracy
Adams
In
his native Richmond, Virginia, Tracy Adams performed in venues ranging
from musical theatre to opera to jazz club. His first "gig" in Chicago
was as a singing waiter aboard The Spirit of Chicago, where, happily,
he met Becca Kaufman among others. For the past few years he has
been concentrating on cabaret, and in 1998 was honored to be chosen
as a Fellow to the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center Cabaret Symposium,
where he worked with cabaret luminaries such as Julie Wilson, Margaret
Whiting, Kaye Star and Carol Hall. He followed this in 1999 with
a New York City debut at Eighty-Eights. A fledgling songwriter,
he has recently begun incorporating his own material into his shows.
Rebecca
Nixon
A
Western girl from Colorado turned city-savvy 12 years ago, Rebecca
Nixon is excited to officially debut her singing career at Pops!
Rebecca briefly sang for her first time at a company Christmas party
with Becca and the Bobby Schiff Band. It was truly a remarkable
experience and an eye-opener for Rebecca in realizing how much she
really wanted to pursue her singing career. Thank you Becca and
Amy for this opportunity! Rebecca has sang nonprofessionally all
her life but upon finding courage and inner strength with great
support from her husband, she's decided to step out! She has performed
in Cabaret and played Lilly in the ski movie, "Missing in Ski Town".
She currently trains with Larry Brent ofthe Larry Brent Orchestra,
who has been teaching for over 30 years.
Christine Sala
Christine Sala is a native of Schaumburg, IL, a graduate
of the University of Arizona, has lived and studied in Mexico, speaks
Spanish, has worked for Accenture for the past three years and currently
studies dance at Giordano Jazz Dance Center in Evanston. Christine
has been singing ever since she was a little girl; strumming her
plastic toy guitar singing "Mary had a Baby" and using anything
and everything as her microphone, her favorite - the vacuum cleaner
handle. Seven years ago a friend heard her sing and asked what she
was doing with her voice. In the end, he gave her a sheet of paper
with the names and telephone numbers of several local vocal instructors.
That sheet of paper was with her for a year before she finally made
the call to Fred Farran and has been studying with him for the past
six years. She says, not only is he an incredible teacher, but a
very dear friend. Christine has had the privilege of singing in
local musicals, friend's weddings, family & work functions and has
often been found at Champps Americana in Schaumburg on Thursday
evenings for their Karaoke night. Today, Christine in working on
developing into a more professional arena. This is Christine's second
showcase and is thrilled to be performing at the North Shore Singer
Spotlight. She would like to thank her Mom & Dad along with all
her other friends and family for all their support and to all those
that make such a show possible, especially the extraordinary musicians.
