Performing
at Singer Spotlight North Shore on Wednesday, May 26 at Pops Highwood.
Stephanie Rogers
Stephanie Rogers found music by studying theatre at Northwestern
nearly fifteen years ago. She has produced two pop rock cd's on
her own label and keeps up her website, www.hipchick.com.
Stephanie's band can be seen this summer at Navy Pier and in local
clubs; and she is regularly hired to sing at weddings and parties,
and with the popular funk band, Brother Brother. She is the proud
mom of Charlie, happy wife of John and thankful daughter of Karen
and Gerry.
Becky
Raisman
My name is Becky Raisman and I just turned 22 on St. Patrick's Day.
Performing has always been part of my life and music is in my blood.
Singing began in elementary school with the 4th and 5th grade choir
at Red Oak Elementary School, which I continued in 7th grade at
Edgewood Middle School and high school. I grew up in Highland Park
and I went to Highland Park High School and sang in Treble Ensemble
and Concert choir from freshman year to junior year. I acted in
"Diviners" and "Taste of Sunrise" at H. P.'s Summer Theatre in 1998
and '99 and was a Student Director for "Cinderella". I studied Voice
with Kirsten Synvensdent from 1997-2000. In August of '99, I moved
to Wadsworth and finished my senior year at Warren Township High
School in Gurnee graduating in 2000. In fall of 2000, I enrolled
at Columbia College in Chicago. I'm a Musical Theatre Major and
a junior. I've performed at Columbia's Student Concert Series and
I'm part of the Columbia College Singers Alliance, along with the
Chicago Collegiate Choir at Roosevelt University in 2001. I'm studying
acoustic guitar at A-Major Music with Joe Cropin in Gurnee. In the
future, I plan to take Keyboard 1 and private singing lessons at
Columbia. My acting includes "Our Town" with Waukegan Community
Players, "Light Up The Sky" with Gurnee Theatre Company; "The Vagina
Monologues" at Roosevelt University and About Face Theatre's original
production "Up Until Now" at the Goodman Theatre during the summer
of 2003. I've done volunteer work for Gurnee Theatre Company by
ushering and stage crew for Waukegan Community Players. In September
2003, I received a scholarship to take acting at Chicago Actors
Studio. I want to thank my family and friends for their love and
support and also my music and acting teachers for their guidance,
coaching, and support. I'm recording a demo at Bam Bam's Pyramid
of Sound in Antioch. Thanks to Paula and Nikki for giving me this
opportunity to be part of Singer Spotlight North Shore.
Nicky
Rodin
Nickey Rodin just finished her freshman year at Rice University
studying vocal performance under Kathy Kaun. While her new love
for opera is growing, she still loves to sing jazz and musical theater
as well. Favorite roles include, Aline in "The Sorcerer," Rosie
in "Bye Bye Birdie," and Baby Rose in "Babes in Arms." Nickey loves
to perform wherever she can and is thrilled to be singing at Pops.
Alan
Hannapel
Alan started playing drums and percussion in
the school band at age eight. Even though he had other interests,
it didn't take long for him to realize that music was his true passion.
In high school, Alan became the drummer in the very competitive
Downers Grove jazz band, winning regional solo awards. Just following
graduation, Alan earned a slot in Jazz Abroad. This group toured
Europe for three weeks and performed at the North Sea and Montreaux
Jazz Festivals. He then toured Greece a year later with the Elmhurst
College Jazz Band. After graduating from college, Alan found himself
busy performing and recording with numerous local pop, rock, blues,
and jazz groups. He started studying voice with Sam Sanchez, one
of the band leaders, in 1992. With further mentoring and encouragement
from local vocal phenoms Temple Schultz, and Kim Frost, Alan tonight
is making an introduction. This is his first time leading the stage
as a singer. Alan would very much like to thank his family and friends
for their love and support. He also would like to thank Sam, Temple,
and Kim for their expertise and encouragement.
