Geneva
Norman
Geneva is a relative newcomer to Chicago. Born and raised
in Cleveland, Ohio she sang in church and school choirs and local
events from childhood. She came to Chicago to complete an academic
program at the Chicago Medical School. While a student there a friend,
who'd heard her sing, recommended that she audition at The Old Town
School of Folk Music's Blues School. She auditioned and won a spot
in the Blues Ensemble. At Old Town her love of the blues music was
cultivated and nurtured and she had the privilege of studying under
such Chicago Blues greats as Steve Leavitt, Bruce Altice, Steve
Hutchins, Steve Doyle and thrice grammy nominated bass man Harlan
Terson. Today she is the vocalists for two local bands "The Geneva
Convention" and "My Sister" Blues bands. The Geneva Convention plays
at Gallery Cabaret the last Monday of each month beginning in October.
Bryan Frischer
Bryan Frischer has been
singing in both amateur and professional shows all his life, performing
publicly for the first when he was seven years old. Bryan has performed
professionally as Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls at the
Des Moines Dinner Theatre and in several Broadway reviews. His amateur
roles include Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,
Curly in Oklahoma, Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie,
and chorus roles in West Side Story, Cabaret, Jesus Christ Superstar,
and The Threepenney Opera. He also performed the National
Anthem for the Chicago Bulls. Bryan wishes to thank his family,
Lori, Mady, and Zach for their unwavering and loving support.
Nancie Billingsley
Born into a large musical family, Nancie never thought of getting
on stage until many years after singing at church and family gatherings.
Once she started at the Karaoke bar, she was hooked! Working with
a few vocal coaches has helped hone her talent and give her the
confidence to sing from time to time. She has sung at weddings,
fairs and Chick Singer Night in the past. She is grateful for the
opportunity to do Singer Spotlight North Shore because as a part-time
health club sales rep and full-time mother of two as well as an
adoring wife, her time has become more limited. Constantly creating
in addition to working on lyrics to songs, she is hoping to one
day have a business selling her handmade jewelry and custom painted
one-of-a-kind items and of course, singing whenever she can!
Andy Rubenstein
Andy Rabensteine launched his professional singing and acting debut
over seven years ago. Upon graduating from Indiana State University
with a degree in theatre, he began performing in venues all across
the country, sharing his talent with diverse audiences from LA to
rural Indiana. He has appeared in numerous plays and musicals, including
Angels In America and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor
Dreamcoat. In 1999, Andy based himself in Chicago, where he
continued to hone his craft by performing in and developing new
works, both musical and non-musical. Singing, however, remains Andy's
truest passion, and in 2001 he began sending out a demo CD to various
hotels and clubs. So far, he has performed at the Hotel Allegro
downtown and at both Gentry on Halsted and Gentry on State. This
past month, he premiered his cabaret, Learning How To Fly,
at Davenport's Piano Bar and Cabaret to critical acclaim. Andy is
thrilled to be performing with a band for the first time and, after
having seen several other Singer Spotlight performances, with this
band in particular!
