Performing
at Singer Spotlight Unplugged at Uncommon Ground on Thursday, December
4.
Angie
Wendt
Angie
Wendt is extremely pleased to be making her first appearance at
the Singer Spotlight Unplugged. A native Chicagoan, Angie has been
making the rounds on the showcase circuit this year (Singer Spotlight
North Shore, Chick Singer Night, Vocal Venue), so you are probably
sick of seeing her. After beginning her career by spending several
foolish years post-college trying to make a living doing musical
theatre, she sort of came to her senses (OK, not really) when she
landed a job starring in the production shows of Carnival Cruiselines.
However, being a beach bum in the Bahamas lost its appeal after
6 months and she returned to Chicago. Since then she has been a
“jobber,” fulfilling her Adam Sandlerish-dream of being a wedding
singer. She currently sings with the Ralph Wilder Orchestra and
does other freelance singing work here and there as it pops up.
Huge props to Becca & Amy for providing such a great opportunity
for singers to network and showcase their talents. Angie dedicates
this show to her mom, who always taught her not to “tank up” before
dinner.
Temple
Schultz
Temple
Schultz has been singing professionally since childhood and leading
bands since graduating from the University of Miami (Coral Gables,
FL) where she received her bachelors in the internationally top-rated
program for Music Business. In addition to being the producer of
the annual Roger?s Park Jazz Series where she has booked internationally
known musicians like multi Grammy winning Randy Brecker, Fareed
Haque, and Johnny Frigo, Temple has worked in A&R at Capitol Records
where she showcased the then unsigned and controversial Marilyn
Manson and country legends The Mavericks. She has also been a private
investigator for ASCAP Music and has promoted concerts for internationally
famous bands and musicians including Michelle Shocked and Radio
Head at The Variety Playhouse (Atlanta, GA). As a vocalist, Temple
has performed and/or recorded with pop icon Gloria Estefan, R&B
legend Peobo Bryson, Filipino superstar Nora Anor, Grammy nominated
sax legend Frank Catalano and many other prominent jazz artists.
Her voice has been heard on jingles for Rio Bravo Restaurant chains,
Henessy Cadillac (Atlanta region) and the Chicago Bears. She is
an instructor of both voice and piano at Musical Expressions in
Naperville and is a self-taught guitarist. Temple is the winner
of multiple national songwriting competitions and has released two
CDs of her original music. She performs regularly in Chicago?s top
venues including the Green Mill, Green Dolphin Street, Jazz Showcase,
Odyssey Dinner boat and House of Blues and is a top call vocalist
for Brazilian bands (www.AcorDoBrasil.com)
in Chicago. Temple is also a graduate of the prestigious Interlochen
Arts Academy High School in Michigan.
Pam
Richardson
Midwestern
Renaissance gal Pamela Richardson is delighted to be making her
debut Singer Spotlight appearance. If one were to judge solely by
appearances, Pam might be dismissed as just another folk singer
with an atypical but lovely alto voice. But those first observations
can be deceiving. Though her songs are lyrical and steeped with
emotion, Pam foregoes the quixotic tradition of the folk singer
and instead writes songs of the heart. Love and loss in their myriad
shades make up her palette, and she paints her stories masterfully.
Pam’s acoustic CD, Spaghetti Midwestern, has received airplay on
college and indie stations from Berkeley to London. Last spring,
she performed two in-store appearances during SXSW in Austin, Texas
(sharing a venue with Tony Joe White, the Godfather of Swamp Rock,
chomp chomp). She also played two showcases for the 2003 Midwest
International Pop Overthrow here in Chicago (www.internationalpopoverthrow.com).
She is currently working on her next CD with her band, The Gentleman
Callers, scheduled for release next year. Turn-ons include travel,
nature, animals, wine and chocolate. Turn-offs include rude crowds,
red tape, corporate nonsense and stubborn CD packaging. Pam lives
in Chicago with her fiancé, seven cats and one (understandably)
rather nervous dog. Contact: profhound@earthlink.net
